What Drives Filipinos Overseas?

Have you ever wonder why more and more Filipinos have decided to work or live outside the country? Would you think that all of them are poor? If they are poor, then why is it that some of them has plenty of money to finance their placement fee and other processing fees for their application?

I'd agree that not all Filipinos are poor and under privilege. It is not because of poverty but the opportunity they can get from working or living abroad. If only given a chance to choose, I would rather leave the country and go seomewhere than suffer here due to corruption. Corruption is the only and main reason why people suffers and lived in poverty.

Here I would like to share a list of reasons why Filipinos prefer to work or live abroad than stay in the country.
  • Economic collapse that began in the 80's
  • Low wages and salaries especially in Visayas and Mindanao
  • Lack of opportunities in the Philippines
  • High prices of commodities because of tax or VAT
  • Corruption involving leaders and government employees
  • Unreasonable increase in commodities that tends to increase everything
  • Unfair distribution of economic resources (focuses only in Luzon)
  • Poor services in the government
  • Poor Health Care benefits
  • Expensive Hospitalization
  • Unfair justice system

And these are the reasons why pinoys enjoys living abroad (selected countries)
  • Free family health card, dental and insurance
  • Free education for children
  • Free water and electricity
  • High Salary (Dhinares, Pound, Euros, Dollars and Yen) see exchange rates
  • Affordable commodities
  • Affordable housing plans
  • Large demand for workers (including old age workers)

If you have any more suggestions or corrections, comments is accepted. Thanks!

Common Visa for ASEAN Countries

Aiming for more investment, our country is pushing for the adoption of a common visa for South East Asian Nation (ASEAN).

Well, I hope this would push through! In fact, as I understand, the purpose behind is to enhance huge opportunities in trade, investments and tourism where members will benefit from it. As explained by the said Bureau of Immigration Commissioner, foreigner can travel freely to ASEAN member-country without the need to secure an entry visa. Certainly, this would be a great opportunity among its people to travel ASEAN countries. But what about some safety measures concerning health and terrorism?

Good if all members will cooperate and participate and that their vision to make one ASEAN community will materialize in 2015 as envisioned by its charter. More jobs will be created and people will be more acquainted with ASEAN neighbors than before.

I hope this will lessen some corrupt practices in our government where they will be subject for critism especially in the processing of papers. Few government agencies are too slow to respond during the processing of papers and a lot of requirements are asked upon individual. Sometimes they just do it to prevent a person from acquiring a visa or may asked someone to make a deal if not caught.

I hope some government official will not take advantage of it to enrich themselves through some corrupt practices!
